What's In A Name?

So I've been curious about the name's everyone's given to their characters. Believe it or not, names can tell a lot about someone, from their background to their personality! Long story short, here's where you can put down and tell everyone the meaning of your character's name! And if you made up your character's name, that just means you can make up something to go fit them! ouo

I guess since I'm so curious about everyone else, I'll go first... *Pushes Setzer forward into the display case*
Setzer: H-Hey!

Setzer (apparently it's a real name! 8'D) - German, meaning "to set" (a price, example, standard, etc).
Borgia - English form of Borja, which is a Russian and Spanish name of Slavonic and Spanish origin. I used the Russian/Slavonic Borja, which is actually a pet form of the name Boris, which carries the meaning of "fight" or "battle".
So Setzy's full name roughly translates into "Sets (the standard of) battle", which might explain why he's such a fighting enthusiast... QwQ

I can't, for the life of me, remember why I picked Callahan in the first place. It's a name I really like, but I don't remember where I came across it and said, "That's what I want to call him!" I believe I found the last name first, after searching for "Wolf" and thus picked Callahan to be a good combination.

O'Connell is translated to "As strong as a wolf", which Callahan would rather be a wolf than a yippy scavenger of a hyena. His competitive nature comes from both being a hyena, a scavenger, and the desire to be the strong, majestic, alpha wolf that his name implies.

I just picked Bailey because I wanted a unisex name since Uxies are genderless

I didn't think about Trixy's name until after I came up with it really. But then I realized it was really fitting for her since, she likes to trick people. Her middle name is pretty self explanatory, Reena, and she is named after her father Reno. (I'm so creative! ) And her last name just sounds like a rich person name to me, and I totally made it up. xD

I just went on a name meanings website and McClellan means Little Wolf. xD And Trixie means Bringer of Joy! LOL, yeah right. It makes her sound so cute and sweet. But I guess thats another example of her being Tricky, huh? Lol

I actually read a book in or story in english and one of the Characters was named Borgia, I think it was a last name.

Borgia's used as a last name most often in Spain, and it means hut, LOL. QuQ If Setzer had any Spainish to his ancestry, his name would be so lame... orz

And Caruuuuuuu~~~~, Callahan means 'Little Bright-headed One', so his name means something like little bright-headed wolf? Which either means he's smart, or his head glows like a lightbulb.... xDDDD and now I'm going to think of Callahan's head all aglow all of the time...rofl /SHOT

And I think Bailey fits quite nicely. It apparently means 'bailiff', and that's basically a person charged with local administrative authority... And Bailey's a teacher, so it fits, right? Right??? No??? >3<

Trixy is a bringer of joy. She makes me smile every time I read the forums. (She's so sassy~! 8'D xD)

I think the Count of Monte Cristo takes place in Spain... so that would make sense. xD

Knowing that Bailey's name fits him pretty good. He seems to be the type that keeps order.

It's amazing how she can be so evil, and lovable at the same time. xD

I generally look up name meanings that relate to my oc's personality or background and aren't blatantly obvious in their connection, but Kipper was an exception. Kipper rhymes with chipper and all I could think of was how chipper I had designed him to be...I probably should give him a more legit name at some point.

VOOVOO, do not ruin the sexiness of my character by making him a lightbulb! I'll...I'll... ruin one of your characters then! D<

And it also means a heavy believer in the church OTL So I know, ENTIRELY, that I did not google Callahan before I picked it...

Kipper's name reminds me of a show about a dog that used to be on Nick Jr (Kipper the Dog). He was so cute~... >u>
And rhyming a name with an aspect of your character's personality isn't a bad thing at all, IMO. It's better than taking the name from the Pokemon they are or something (like a Pikachu gijinka name Pika, or a Solrock named Sol, or a Nuzleaf named Nuz (*<---Has seen all of these examples*) =n=

And Caru, you've already ruined one of my characters. Cedric was a saint before he met Carusima... >u> AJDSDHFLKSJDFHROFLMAO- /SHOTGUNNED

I like Kipper too. It's pretty fitting.

Psh, Carusima was a saint before she met Cedric. Sweet little angel she was, the bastard! And Setzy by far surpasses him on the asshole scale >_> Cedric at least had a charming, woe you with a false lack of danger and hidden whorish intent, side that made him swoonable. Setzy? I just want to scream at him. xD

And I've seen all those examples too x.x; Eevee named Eve, etc. I like Kipper, it really does suit his cute and hyper personality. Before I read his bio, I knew just by the name of what he'd be like ^_^

LOL all you guys names are so interesting, I just wanted a japanese name for my Zorua, cuz im so uncreative and bad with names ^^; so I went to some site with a bunch of japanese names with meaning xDD;;

The Japanese name Kazuki may be written with the characters for "one" (kazu) and "timber trees; wood" (ki). Other possibilities include "harmony; Japanese style; peace; soften; Japan" (kazu) and "timber trees; wood" (ki), as well as "one" (kazu) and and "radiance; shine; sparkle; gleam; twinkle" (ki). I just copy and paste, I always forget~

Something like that xD; and Ryouta, it means refreshing, nice and cool, or something like that lD

I dunno, I think his name kinda fits ;A;`

The moment I saw sparkle/gleam, I thought of a gleam in Kazuki's eye as he prowls for young students to prey on, heheh /brick'd. xDDD {{I'm a terrible person, ignore me TuT}}

And to be honest, Setzer's actually a lot nicer now than I intended him to be Caru. Same goes for Cedric. I originally intended for Setzer to get into a lot more fights, swear more, and pretty much make life a living hell for everyone. And yet, Zori and Kazuki don't seem to loathe his very existence completely unless I'm wrong and they do...? QnQ? Cedric, while he's always been a woo-er of woo-worthy women, was supposed to be a lot more chauvinistic, deceptive, scheming, and even racist (he did come from the 1920s). Even though Setzer may seem like the bigger @**hole, he's never killed anyone, let alone as many as Cedric has, as remorselessly as Cedric has. >u>

Maybe Zoruas are dark types too? So they don't mind? Or perhaps Kazuki's mind is more complicated than I thought QnQ I don't even know my own character OTL Its hard for him to simply hate someone and Setzy isn't bad enough in his mind to really hate him...maybe its because of that time when he dressed up as prismpika...it was just too funny!! xDDD;;

Setzy has his moments where he isn't a complete @$$-hat. Those moments rarely (if ever) happen around multiple people he doesn't know. (And they usually only happen when his favorite things are involved). I'm trying to orchestrate a scenario where Setzer doesn't come off as douche-nozzle of the year, but... it's like trying to shoot a grain of sand into a basketball hoop... T^T

everyone name is very creative unlike me who is randomly giving name

i choose mitsuki because i want a japanese skitty and tsuki means moon in japanese. (moon stone is necessary for skitty evolve XD) so i just add mi in the front to make it nice. when i google "mitsuki" it means "three month", "full moon" and "light, moon"

her family name, akiyama, means autumn mountain. (i just google it after i give her name) so.. her name can means : full moon on autumn mountain? iknowit'sweird

I chose "Rei" because when I looked for some japanese names it said it meant "bell". Not very creative I know "orz

I picked Zeke's name after I had Created him, not for any reason inparticular, other then the fact that I thought it Fit him~
Plus he doesn't have a last name... But He's an Orphan so it's OK :I

And after looking up the Meaning of his name... It's Hebrew, Meaning God will Strengthen~ :B

... Ryan's name is so boring. LOL
I made it up just by arranging the letters in Driffloon and editing it..
dRIflOoN = Rion = Sounds like Ryan. LOL

I like all of those names *u*. Mistuki's name sounds like it could be the topic of a haiku... QAQ Which is pretty darn creative if you ask me QuQ Coming up with Ryan's name but eliminating letters from this Pokemon species is actually a pretty ingenious way of doing things. Of course, if I did that with Setzy, his name would end up Pedo or something... oTL T^T And I like Zeke's name, I always thought it was a cool boy's name (I have a whole list of names I like, because I'm lame like that x'D). The meaning behind it is pretty epic too (not like Setzer, which means to set... TuT)

At first, I think it was Bamy (One who roleplays Luca) who had suggested Zachary...Her or someone else...But I already have a character (WHO HAPPENS TO BE A ZANGOOSE TOO) named Zachary :I
So I couldn't pick that
And I was just randomly typing up letters together to see if I could think of something (Which is what I do a lot >U>) and looking through google and finally found Lyon =o= I thought it sounded cool and interesting so yeah >u<

Luca's name is the song title of one of my favorite
songs by my favorite band.Luca by Brand New
and i had decided that if i ever had a kid
[which i don't ever want to do but just in case]
i wanted to name them Luca :1

Um i think the reason i named Gabriel what his name is was because i wanted to do a bad pun on it.
He's gay so when saying his name you say GAY-briel and that's the pun 8"D /brick'd to death
it seemed to fit him so i stuck with it xD
apparently it means "able-bodied one of God" and comes from a hebrew origin.
His last name,foxx, simply means fox xD
